Whether you are a youth activist, food service professional, community leader, educator, or someone who believes in the power of food to transform local realities, we’re calling on you to join the efforts.

*How to Participate

  1. Mobilize your network to take part in the action

  2. Cook a meal that is locally sourced, nutritionally balanced, and delicious

  3. Share a meal with those in need in your community

  4. Use the #UnviversalPlate. Share your story with the world as an act of solidarity and collective action towards SDG 2: Zero Hunger.

From donating food that would otherwise be wasted, building tables to bridge communities, stocking a community fridge, or cooking with a local non-profit, there are many ways to participate.

Reflect, Remember and Reaffirm - SGMs FIRST RE-Union

Our very first RE-Union, scheduled for May 24-28, 2024, is intended to be a heartfelt opportunity for reflecting, remembering, reuniting, and reaffirming the work we are each doing – individually and collectively.
We will share experiences and memories and reflect on the paths we've walked, both together and apart. It will be a time to remember the laughter, the challenges, and the triumphs that have shaped us.

The SGM RE-Unions are a dedicated space for those members who have actively contributed to movement co-creation spaces or participated in SGM capacity and spirit-building experiences like summits and learning journeys. These RE-Unions are not just gatherings; they are a celebration of the profound connections that define SGM and a platform to co-create innovative solutions for specific challenges and opportunities that may emerge.

WFF Side Event: The Right to Food through collective action

Organized into three interlinked fora - the WFF Global Youth Forum, the FAO Science and Innovation Forum and the FAO Hand-in-Hand Investment Forum - the 2023 flagship event will leverage the power of intergenerational collaboration and creativity across policy, science, innovation, education, culture, and investment. The goal is to forge new paths of action, impact, and acceleration on the local, regional, and global levels toward a sustainable, resilient, inclusive, and hunger-free food future for all.

The Social Gastronomy movement will be host a virtual side event on October 19th at 10:00 CEST (Rome time). In this session, we delve into the critical topic of the right to food and explore how collective action plays a pivotal role in ensuring its realization by showcasing the experience of the Social Gastronomy Movement (SGM) communities.

Drawing on inspiring success stories and best practices of the Universal Plate campaign and our manifesto for the right to food, we showcase how collective action empowers communities, governments, and organizations to address these issues effectively.
