Born from the Social Gastronomy Movement as a solidarity campaign in October 2020 as food insecurity began to rise worldwide, the #UniversalPlate unites chefs, academics, farmers, corporations, municipalities, and individuals to cook and share meals with those in need in their local communities.
*Call-to-Action
Between October 13 and 19, people from around the world will join the movement to show the world the power of cooking and sharing a meal as an act of service and care.
Whether you are a youth activist, food service professional, community leader, educator, or someone who believes in the power of food to transform local realities, we’re calling on you to join the efforts.
*How to Participate
Mobilize your network to take part in the action
Cook a meal that is locally sourced, nutritionally balanced, and delicious
Share a meal with those in need in your community
Use the #UnviversalPlate. Share your story with the world as an act of solidarity and collective action towards SDG 2: Zero Hunger.
From donating food that would otherwise be wasted, building tables to bridge communities, stocking a community fridge, or cooking with a local non-profit, there are many ways to participate.
Every plate counts!
