The Universal Plate: Taste of Change

You're invited to participate in the Social Gastronomy Movement's Universal Plate campaign from September 1 - October 16 (World Food Day.) This campaign is a collaborative 6-week in-field action to share meals with those in need as a global demonstration of advocacy and celebration of efforts towards SDG-2: Zero Hunger. With over 800 million people without access to adequate food, the time is now for us to ensure that our neighbors and the communities we love have access to nutritious meals.

Join the World in Action

Throughout this campaign, chefs, youth, universities, non-profits, community leaders, partners, food banks, and local governments unite to celebrate and co-create around cultural tradition, zero waste, and food solidarity in-action.

The first year of this campaign, 2020 mobilized 90,000 meals to be shared in 24 hours, Last year in just 72 hours, we shared almost 900,000. Imagine what we can do with six weeks of collective action.

#UniversalPlate Campaign 2022

Kicking off on the 1st of September, Hunger Action Month, until October 16, World Food Day

About the Universal Plate

Born from the Social Gastronomy Movement as a solidarity campaign in October 2020 as food insecurity began to rise worldwide, the #UniversalPlate unites chefs, academics, farmers, corporations, municipalities, and individuals to cook and share meals with those in need in their local communities.

After seeing a ten-fold increase in impact between 2020 and 2021, the campaign will last throughout Hunger Action Month (September) and until World Food Day (October 16). We are ready to cook up change as a global community in over six weeks of collaboration and shared action!
