A Letter from Our Orchestrator

What a year 2021 has been! As of January, we officially kicked off our full operations out of the Social Gastronomy foundation based in Switzerland (Social Gastronomy Schweiz), an important milestone for the Movement. 

Despite yet another challenging year of the global pandemic, our members, partners, and supporters have demonstrated resilience and passion at the frontline of global food system challenges affecting those most vulnerable groups in our respective communities. 

2021 also marked an important moment for global food system transformation with the historical UN Food Systems Summit for which our network and team contributed with a series of independent dialogues. These joint efforts and collective conversations provided a unique opportunity to continue stepping further into collaboration action!

One of my favorite moments of this year was seeing the community coming together to demonstrate true solidarity through our #UniversalPlate campaign this World Food Day.

Together, we were able to show the world the power that community, food, and sharing a meal can have on the world. While the campaign was only for one weekend, our community collectively reached way beyond one million souls throughout the year, and that is what I personally would like to celebrate. 

As I reflect on the magic that we have co-created in 2021, I would like to express my greatest gratitude to our partners, alliances,  team, board, volunteers and the entire community for all making our collective dream a reality. Because of all of you, I am optimistic and know that we will reach our vision of an inclusive, equitable, and sustainable food system, ensuring everyone has a seat, and a plate, at the table.
